Why InCELLia? Inspired by the 'Incella' octopus, Incellia reflects agility, intelligence, and adaptability. Like the octopus navigating complex environments, we integrate biological transparency with predictive precision to tackle the most intricate challenges in science and medicine. After completing her Master’s degree in Mathematics in her hometown Siena (Italy), Arianna enrolled in a PhD at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh (Scotland), which she concluded with a thesis on Mathematical Models for Wound Healing Lymphangiogenesis and Other Biomedical Phenomena. After that, she focused her research on cancer modelling, particularly on the relation between a tumour and the nervous system. In addition to research, Arianna teaches Math and Physics at high school. Aris holds a PhD from the Physics department of the University of British Columbia (UBC; Vancouver, Canada), with a background in Electrical and Computer Engineering (Master’s equivalent diploma from National Technical University of Athens – NTUA).He has worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Khalifa University, UAE, studying the properties of liquids in carbon nanotubes using Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). He works as a data& AI scientistat a major technology consulting company.
Aris has worked extensively on multiple Data Analysis and Mathematical Modelling projects throughout his PhD, post-doctoral, and industry positions. He has conducted extensive mathematical simulations and calculations of physical systems (Monte Carlo, ODEs, Finite Differences, Tikhonov regularization, etc). He has developed data analysis tools from tabular rasa in several instances utilizing the capabilities of C++/ROOT, Python, and MATLAB.
Meet Our Team Dr. Arianna Bianchi Mathematician, PhD Dr. Aris Chatzichristos Physics, PhD He studied Applied Mathematics in Thessaloniki and received a Ph.D. degree in Marine Hydrodynamics from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. Since 2014 he has been a laboratory teaching staff in the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the NTUA. His research interests include inverse problems and stochastic modelling. Dr. Panagiotis Gavriliadis Mathematician, PhD He studied Applied Mathematics in Thessalonikiand received his MSc and Ph.D. degreesin Mathematical Biology from the Mathematics Department of the University of Dundee, Scotland. In 2004, Georgios conducted postdoctoral research at the Ohio State University’s Mathematical Biosciences Institute, developing a model for tumor-induced lymphangiogenesis. He worked as a research associate at the Athens University of Technology from 2006 to 2012 and concurrently as a postdoctoral researcher focusing on nanomedicine at the National Technical University of Athens from 2009 to 2013. From 2013 to 2015, he was a Senior Research Fellow at Technische Universität Dresden, studying biomedical systems and the role of the nervous system in cancer. Since 2015, he has served as the coordinator for the Mathematical Modelling Group at the Oncology Unit of the 3rd Department of Internal Medicine and Laboratory of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Dr. Georgios Lolas Mathematician, PhD Scientific Advisory Board My main area of research is in what may be called “mathematical oncology” i.e. formulating and analysing mathematical models of cancer growth and treatment. I have been involved in developing a variety of novel mathematical models for all the main phases of solid tumour growth, namely: avascular solid tumour growth, the immune response to cancer, tumour-induced angiogenesis, vascular tumour growth, invasion and metastasis.
